The QueerScope Debut Film Award will be presented for the first time this year at the 10th Queer Film Festival Munich. The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros. This year, the programme directors of all QueerScope festivals chose the humorous and self-deprecating animated film ‘Lesbian Space Princess,’ the first feature film by directors Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese. A discussion with directors Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese is planned after the film screening.
QueerScope e.V. is the umbrella organisation for independent queer film festivals in German- speaking countries. Nearly 30 queer film festivals are represented by QueerScope, which together reach around 45,000 visitors annually. Since 2015, QueerScope has awarded an annual debut film prize for the best feature film debut on lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or intersex, asexual and other queer themes.
