A gay love story in a dark environment full of violence.
Pablo and his sister Appoline have a shared passion. Together they slip into fictional characters in the online game Darknoon and escape their dreary small-town lives. When Pablo accidentally meets the older Night while dealing, the realms of reality and gameplay start to merge. A conflict seems inevitable…
Eat the night is passionate, authentic and brutal. The film is an exciting thriller that was shown at this year‘s Cannes Film Festival and that pushes the boundaries of the concept of family. At times it plays with well-known modes of gloomy thriller structures, other times with flashy video game aesthetics: Eat the Night is a truly successful intermedial balancing act.
