The YTF Berlin is a non-profit organisation that aims to support film talent and accompany them on their way to a professional career. Besides the support of film projects and the granting of scholarships, the awarding of film prizes at renowned festivals is an important part of our work. The prize money awarded is intended to give the filmmakers the opportunity to invest in a future project.
In challenging times, one of our priorities is to support queer filmmakers and helped them to realise their passion projects. Therefore, we are very proud to donate the QFFM Jury Award for the first time and wish the jury every success with their important work.
JAKOB M. ERWA

Jakob M. Erwa wollte ursprünglich Rockstar werden. Er besuchte die Kunstschule und begann 2001 sein Regie-Studium an der Münchner Filmhochschule, das er 2007 abschloss. Sein Abschlussfilm „Heile Welt“ wurde mit dem „Großen Diagonale-Preis“ und dem „German Independence Award“ ausgezeichnet. 2015 feierte sein Psychodrama „Homesick“ Premiere auf der Berlinale. Jakob adaptierte Andreas Steinhöfels „Die Mitte Der Welt“ und erhielt mehrere internationale Auszeichnungen. 2020 war er Regisseur und Creator der Serie „Katakomben“. Sein Drehbuch „Die Akte Doms“ wird 2025 für die Lola für das beste noch unverfilmte Drehbuch, den Deutschen Drehbuchpreis, nominiert.

Jakob M. Erwa originally wanted to be a rock star. He attended art school and began studying directing at the Munich Film Academy in 2001, graduating in 2007. His graduation film „Heile Welt“ was honoured with the „Großer Diagonale-Preis“ and the „German Independence Award“. His psychological drama „Homesick“ premiered at the Berlinale in 2015. Jakob adapted Andreas Steinhöfel‘s „Die Mitte Der Welt“ and received several international awards. In 2020 he was director and creator of the series „Katakomben“. His screenplay „Die Akte Doms“ is nominated for the Lola for the best unfilmed screenplay, the German Screenplay Award, in 2025.

River Matzke ist ein*e genderfluide*r Film & Serienmacher*in aus Berlin. Nach dem Studium an der dffb war River Teil des Writer’s Rooms von „All You Need“. Außerdem ist River Ko-Autor*in des Spielfilms „Drifter“, der im Berlinale Panorama 2023 Premiere hatte, den First Steps Award als bester Spielfilm gewann und im gleichen Jahr ins Kino kam. River entwickelt Filme und Serien mit diversen Produktionsfirmen. River hat Erfahrung in der Awarenessarbeit und gibt Workshops über dramaturgische Formen des Otherings. River arbeitet aktivistisch und wertebasiert.

River Matzke is a genderfluid film & series maker from Berlin. After studying at the dffb, River was part of the Writer‘s Room of „All You Need“. River is also the co-writer of the feature film „Drifter“, which premiered in the Berlinale Panorama 2023, won the First Steps Award for Best Feature Film and was released in cinemas the same year. River develops films and series with various production companies. River has experience in awareness work and gives workshops on dramaturgical forms of othering. River‘s approach is rooted in activism and a strong sense of values.
THERESA RODEWALD

Theresa Rodewald hat Kultur- und Filmwissenschaft in Frankfurt Oder und Stockholm studiert. Theresa interessiert sich dafür, wie Filme der Welt Sinn verleihen, wie sie Machtstrukturen bestätigen oder unterwandern und vor allem, wie wir uns in Filmen wiederfinden, wie wir uns gesehen und verstanden fühlen – aber auch, wie Filme uns übersehen, uns nicht gerecht werden und missverstehen. Theresa schreibt vor allem für Filmlöwin – Das feministische Filmmagazin, Berliner Filmfestivals und L-MAG.

Theresa Rodewald studied cultural and film studies in Frankfurt Oder and Stockholm. Theresa is interested in how films give meaning to the world, how they confirm or undermine power structures and, above all, how we find ourselves in films, how we feel seen and understood – but also how films overlook us, do not do us justice and misunderstand us. Theresa writes mainly for Filmlöwin – Das feministische Filmmagazin, Film Festivals in Berlin and L-MAG.
