4. Queer Film Festival München

For the 4th time, the QFFM | Queer Film Festival Munich makes a stand for inclusive diversity in urban society. From 16 to 20 October 2019, the QFFM showcases flms outside of heteronormative cinema including international and regional productions, as well as new classics. Discussions, panels, performances, workshops, and guest-festivals invite you to exchange within and beyond the LGBTIQ* community. One focus this year is a cooperation with the Munich group, Beyond Color.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, we will discuss the social visibility and representation of people of color and queers in the media and their experiences of racism and migration. Stonewall commemorates the fght of a predominantly Afro and Latin American LGBTIQ* community against police violence in New York‘s Christopher Street District. It is regarded as a turning point in the struggle for equal rights and visibility. Since then, the LGBTIQ* community has made strides worldwide, but these lifestyles are still met with reservation and rejection. With these flms and accompanying programme, the QFFM makes a valuable contribution to a tolerant and cosmopolitan Munich in which the fundamental right to freedom and equality are valued and protected.

I would like to thank the festival organizers* and would like to invite everyone to the festival with open minds and hearts.
